Professional drivers first aid (Driver CPC)
This course is approved by the Joint Approvals Unit for Periodic Training (JAUPT) to meet Driver CPC training requirements for professional drivers of large goods vehicles and passenger carrying vehicles.The course counts towards seven hours of the required 35 hours training and provides with the skills and confidence needed to administer first aid in emergency situations while on the road.
What you will learn
Training is highly practical and takes a hands-on approach to learning first aid. The course covers:
- The role of the first aider
- Managing an emergency
- Communication and casualty care
- Asthma
- Bleeding (minor and severe)
- Bone, muscle and joint injuries
- Casualty management (outdoors)
- Chest pains
- Fainting
- Primary survey
- Resuscitation (adult CPR)
- Safer moving and handling
- Shock
- Spinal injuries
- Treatment of an unconscious casualty
Course duration
The seven hour course can be run in one day or split over two consecutive days. Drivers must complete the full course to gain the seven hours towards Driver CPC. If they only complete half of the course for any reason, they will not be accredited with the qualification or the training hours.
